We are committed to running our business operations in a sustainable manner and to reduce our impact on the Environment. We have designed an Environmental Sustainability framework to address pollution prevention, carbon reduction, waste minimisation and to drive responsible use of resources.
Climate change is arguably the most pressing threat facing our planet, that’s why we have set ourselves the goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 for Fidelity’s operations. We are working hard in each of the Fidelity offices to accelerate decarbonisation and to define local pathways to Net-Zero. We are pleased to report that by end 2022 90% of the electricity consumed in our offices came from renewable sources, up from 3% in 2019. We are also targeting to reduce our scope 3 emissions (emissions not owned or directly controlled by us) with a focus on air travel. In total, we managed to reduce our operational carbon emissions by 76% compared to 2019 and will continue on that pathway.
Our daily choices are crucial for the successful achievement of our environmental goals. That is why we are conducting environmental employee education programmes and are encouraging all of you to get involved in sustainability initiatives within the business.
