This default option aims to make planning for your retirement as easy as possible by allowing members to rely on an investment strategy that has already been set out for them. The default strategy aims to sustainably grow your savings over time, while looking to reduce the impact of any market downturns. It follows an automated investment approach, which invests your savings into a range of funds over your working life. This option may be suitable for you if you’re not comfortable making your own investment decisions or selecting your own funds. 

Please note, depending on your plan’s design there may not be a designated default investment option, in which case you will be responsible for selecting your own investments. Please refer to your plan-specific literature.

You can take a more ‘hands-on’ approach to investing by self-selecting. This option allows you to select from a range of funds made available by the Trustee. Remember, if you decide you want to self-select you will be responsible for allocating your investments and you should regularly review your plan to make sure it remains suitable.
